The earliest beginnings of Palm Beach Board riders were a bunch of “surf mad” teens that used to hang around 7th avenue. These lads decided to form a club to emulate some of the great clubs of the mid sixties. This club was started as a group of friends and to this day it remains the same. There may be more names but, as the years go by the memories fade. same.

The Eager Beaver

Nathan Jager a.k.a “Beaver” was involved at Palm Beach Boardriders for over 20 years. He had an enormous amount of energy and zest for life ,who loved his mates, the water and a good time. Nathan’s love of life was infectious and he was constantly surrounded by mates from all parts of the gold coast, Australia and overseas. Nathan suffered from Bi Polar disorder for much of his adult life.

On one of his darkest days Nathan took his own life on Feb 8th 2013.

The objective of the contest is to remember Nathan and raise awareness of mental illness within the surf community. Mental Illness affects many people within the community. The aim is to raise money for LIVIN www.livin.org.au

Last year’s contest raised $3800 dollars. More importantly it got people talking about mental illness and a lot of barriers were broken down.
